Build to Last

“Give careful thought to your ways.” Haggai 1: 5

As we welcome a new year, we embrace hope and anticipation for a brighter future, even amid a world filled with uncertainty and increasing lawlessness. In healthcare, we encounter significant challenges. Heavy workloads and peer pressure to perform and conform are common experiences. These challenges, along with personal health issues, family conflicts, and workplace struggles, can take a substantial toll on any individual. Some seek comfort in regular overseas vacations to escape daily monotony, while others turn to spiritual activities of Bible study and mission work to ease the discomfort of waiting to enter heaven.

The prophet Haggai boldly criticized the Israelites for prioritizing their own homes over the neglected ruins of God’s house (Haggai 1:4). This raises the question: “Is healthcare broken and in need of repair?” Consider the various systems, policies, and the overall spiritual climate surrounding healthcare. Anti-God agendas influence nearly every health-related institution. Ecclesiastes 1:14 aptly describes
the pursuit of earthly goals as “chasing the wind,” illustrating the emptiness of such endeavors that can trap even the most intellectual among us. Rather, we champion righteousness and boldly unveil the hidden deeds of darkness (Ephesians 5:11).

Apostle Paul uses the metaphor of a builder to emphasize the importance of quality materials in our lives (1 Corinthians 3:10-15). We build on Christ as our foundation, which is crucial for our faith, rather than relying on shallow theories of philosophers and professors. There is stability and strength in Christ, our Rock, not in sand, which shifts and collapses during any storm. (Matthew 7: 24 -27). He is the Word. Is the Word of God our ultimate authority? We can only determine this by spending time in the Word and in His presence. Ultimately, He is the builder, and we are His tools (1 Corinthians 3:9-11). Do we partner with Him to strengthen relationships within His kingdom and fulfill His command to make and multiply disciples (Matthew 28:19-20)? Let’s take a moment to reflect deeply and ensure we build wisely for the future!

2025 has been an incredible journey for us! We are truly blessed.
Our Father is forgiving, compassionate, and merciful. His grace surrounds us every day.

May you have a fruitful New Year in 2026, and may the gift of faith, the blessing of hope, and the peace of His love be yours.

Ministry Report 2025

New Year Dedication and Prayer Meeting

National University Hospital (NUH) – January 18, 2025

Forty-four participants from various hospitals gathered to express our commitment to the Lord regarding healthcare and to pray. Among them were staff from NUH, as well as nurses and healthcare workers from different facilities. Many of the participants were young healthcare workers.

Our guest speaker was Prof. Aymeric Lim, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NUH. He encouraged the audience to remain steadfast in doing good. He discussed the changes happening at NUH, emphasizing the hospital’s goal to become more patient-centered while also addressing the need to reduce outpatient visits. He urged everyone to stand for righteousness and not to be afraid. 

The participants were split into five groups for some heartfelt prayer, focusing on our community and the needs of medical students. The nurses formed the largest prayer group.

Seminar on “Love Healthcare” 20th May 2025 in NUH

Pastor Daniel Foo from Bedok Tampines Church spoke about the dynamics of prayer and its implications in healthcare. Twenty-five participants from various hospitals participated in lively group discussions and question-and-answer sessions. The teachings on prayer from the Word of God reinforced our belief that individual and corporate prayer are essential for our walk with the Lord and our growth as His disciples. Additionally, the Daily Bread ministry team set up a table showcasing Christian books.

BEIJING 22nd – 28th June 2025

Chiew Hwa and Dr. Boey visited friends and rekindled ties. Their friends were very welcoming, and they enjoyed a variety of authentic Beijing cuisines. During their visit, they were introduced to a group working on the “Life and Death” Project. This group holds meetings in the community to encourage discussions about end-of-life matters.

JAPAN 3-12 October 2025

A team of three—Dr. Prima, Chiew Hwa, and Dr. Boey visited two hospitals in Japan with the goal of connecting with healthcare Christians and sharing God’s vision for healthcare. They met with Dr. Shinichi Tagami, CEO of Okinawa (Oribuyama) Hospital, and Dr. Mitsuru Sasako, Chairman of the Board of Yodogawa Christian Hospital in Osaka. Both leaders extended warm hospitality to the team. Notably, the majority of hospital employees are non-Christians, as Christians make up about 1 percent of the population in Japan.

The team toured the palliative wards and centers that care for children with severe disabilities. The staff demonstrated remarkable dedication to their work and were attentive to the needs of their patients. A hallmark of Japanese culture includes punctuality, courtesy, and a strong work ethic.

Both hospitals offer chaplaincy services. Patients do come to faith in Christ Jesus. Although the number of believers is small, the seeds of the gospel are indeed bearing fruit. Dr. Boey shared the vision of the Healthcare Christian Fellowship International (HCFI) with the staff at Okinawa Hospital and also delivered a message about “Anxiety” to a small house church at the Sakai Mission House in Osaka.

There is undoubtedly a remnant in Japan who love and serve the Lord. Our healthcare colleagues need our prayer support as they tirelessly labor for Him in a challenging spiritual environment.

Christmas Celebrations

Christmas caroling events took place on December 6 at National University Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, and on December 13 at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Members from Thomson Road Baptist Church, Kingdom City Church, and various singing groups, including the Messengers, HEI, and Hallelujah Chorus, participated alongside healthcare authorities, doctors, and nurses. An overwhelming number of volunteers joined in the festivities, bringing joyful songs and gifts that lifted the spirits of the patients. Both the healthcare staff and carolers felt blessed by the occasion.
